There was no Gala in 2020 because of the restrictions imposed for the Coronavirus Epidemic. Restrictions continued into 2021 so that the normal July date was out of the question. With lifting of some restrictions due in August, the committee aimed for a Gala with some restrictions in September.

The organising committee are to be congratulated on pulling off a succcesful Gala despite many obstacles. The procession consisted of the organising committee, the Coalburn IOR Pipe Band and the cars with the Gala Queen and her court. To reduce possible transfer of virus, the youngsters were driven by members of their families. There was no separate fancy dress competition or floats but people were encouraged to wear fancy dress in their front garden and houses could be decorated as normal. There was no exhibition by the Jim Hamilton Heritage Society.

The weather on Gala Day, 11th September, was dull, dry and cool.
